Onion paratha - A great way to kickstart your day. It's light, crunchy, and downright delicious. Serve it by itself with yogurt and pickle or curry of your choice!!!
Ingredients
- 2 cups atta or whole wheat flour
- 2 tablespoon besan or gram flour
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1-2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon carom seeds or ajwain
- 1 tablespoon kasuri methi or dried fenugreek leaves, crushed
- ½ teaspoon chili powder
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
- salt to taste
- water, for the dough
- 3-4 tablespoon oil or ghee
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together atta, besan, onions, chili, ajwain, kasuri methi, salt, chili powder, turmeric powder, and 1 tablespoon oil.
- Slowly add water and mix nicely so that everything starts coming together.
- Knead to form a soft yet pliable dough. Cover and rest the dough for about 20 minutes.
- Make 8 lemon-sized balls from the dough. Dust it with atta and roll it into a disc of 6-8" in diameter.
- Heat a pan or tawa on medium heat. Place the paratha and let it cook for about 30 seconds.
- Flip the paratha and apply a little oil on top. Cook for another minute or till small brown spots appear on it.
- Flip again and apply oil on the other side as well making sure it's cooked nicely.
- Repeat the process to make the rest of the parathas.
- Serve hot with butter, pickle, and yogurt!!!
