    Paneer Shimla Mirch

    This simple yet irresistibly delicious paneer dish is a lifesaver for those busy weeknights. It takes under 20 minutes to make and tastes great with naan or tawa paratha!!!

    Paneer shimla mirch

    Ingredients

    • 200 gm paneer, cubed
    • 1 medium onion, cut into 1" pieces
    • 1 red bell pepper or capsicum, cut into 1" pieces
    • 10-12 grape tomatoes, halved
    • 1 cup tomato puree, fresh or canned
    • 1 teaspoon kashmiri chili powder
    • 1 teaspoon tandoori masala
    • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
    • ½ teaspoon garam masala
    • 2 tablespoon cilantro or coriander, chopped
    • 2 tablespoon oil
    • ½ cup water
    • salt to taste

    Instructions

    1. Heat oil in a large pan on medium-high heat.
    2. Add onions and saute for 2-3 minutes or until translucent.
    3. Now further add bell pepper, cook for another 2 minutes. It should still be nice and crisp.
    4. Stir in all the spices - chili powder, turmeric, tandoori masala, and garam masala. Give it a good mix.
    5. Then add tomato puree and cook till oil leaves the sides.
    6. Add salt and water. Stir well.
    7. As soon as the gravy comes to a simmer, lower the heat and stir in the paneer pieces.
    8. Cook for another 5 minutes or so.
    9. Finally, add grape tomatoes and turn off the flame.
    10. Garnish with cilantro.
    11. Serve with naan, paratha, or your favorite Indian flatbread!!

    Recipe Notes

    • Feel free to use any color bell pepper. I used red bell pepper for a pop of color.
    • Don't overcook onions and peppers.
    • You can add another half cup of water if you like more gravy.
